SPRINGVILLE, UTAH (June 24, 2010)—A native of Ghana, Africa, Akwasi Frimpong grew up in Holland and has recently been attending university in the United States on a track scholarship, as well as serving as a global sales intern at Neways. When invited to try Neways’ new noncarbonated energy drink Açai Action®, which contains all-natural sweeteners and no artificial colors, Akwasi eagerly accepted and soon saw excellent results.

“I have been taking Açai Action® during track meets, and I have been seeing some great improvements,” said Akwasi. “I was having a hard time performing well this season, and I needed something to boost me up during track meets. Açai Action® has been helping me out a lot.”

Recently, Akwasi helped the Utah Valley University track team break the school record in the 4×100m relay, and he achieved his best time this season on the 100m sprint (10.94 seconds). “This time has helped me qualify for the Dutch National Championships in July in the Netherlands,” Akwasi says. “And during my finals week, Açai Action® helped me stay awake to study.”

Akwasi’s goal is to compete in the 2012 Olympic games in London.

Açai Action® is now available in several Neways markets and will soon become available in others. To follow Akwasi’s progress, become a fan of Açai Action® on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Acai-Action/192819670879.

SPRINGVILLE, UTAH (June 16, 2010)—Neways has released dramatically improved conservation statistics that demonstrate the company’s success in prioritizing environmentally sound business practices. In conjunction with Neways’ Healthy Homes commitment to environmental responsibility, Neways’ corporate recycling program achieved the following results in 2009:

Landfill airspace saved (cu yd) 29,120
Number of mature trees saved 142,014
Gallons of oil saved 3,865,883
Gallons of water saved 452,388
Kw-hr of electricity saved 34,112,000

“Recycling has allowed us to cut our waste pickup from five times weekly to two,” said Neways’ Facilities Manager, Mel Sevy. “This actually represents a cost savings to Neways and underscores our commitment to contribute to a healthy planet.”

Sevy indicates that plans to expand the recycling efforts are in process. Most recently the number of plastic types that can be recycled has increased from two to seven, and methods to make individual recycling more accessible to employees are forthcoming.

SPRINGVILLE, UT (Sept. 2, 2009)—Neways’ Utah employees recently joined forces to help each other prepare for the new school year by gathering and redistributing school clothes and supplies during a sharing event. Not only did employees save money on school preparations, but they also helped the environment by putting used items back into circulation instead of discarding them.

During the week leading up to the sharing event, employees donated more than 30 bags of used clothing. In addition, Neways donated 600 backpacks loaded with school supplies, and employees donated brand-new items such as fleece jackets, hoodies, and school supplies.

At the sharing event, employees and their children picked out school clothes, and each employee received two Neways backpacks filled with office supplies. In addition, volunteers provided lunch bags, totes, TrueTouch® makeup, treats, and healthy lunch ideas.

After the employee-sharing event, Neways donated backpacks to two groups of Somalian refugee children and gave the event’s leftover clothes to a shelter.

SPRINGVILLE, UT (August 4, 2009)—To support Brigham Young University’s recent three-week China expedition made by several advanced photography students and their professor, Neways made it possible for staff photographer John Wang to guide the group. A native of China, John has served as Neways’ senior photographer for three years.

“John led us to some amazing places that most Westerners never get to see,” said Professor John Telford. “We were able to compare the lifestyle of the small villages to the big cities. We found the people just as curious about us as we were about them. I was amazed by the diversity and beauty of the landscape. I was also captivated by the variety of ethnic minority cultures and how they have maintained their lifestyles.”

Professor Telford noted John’s pivotal role in the expedition. “We would not have been able to make it on our own for more than a few minutes without John. He helped us to get the best meals, the best transportation, and the best hotels and to see the best places possible. He is also a very gifted photographer and was able to gear the trip toward the best photographic possibilities. I truly appreciate Neways for allowing him to be our guide and organizer on this academic excursion.”

“This trip would not have even been possible without John Wang, whose countless hours of preparation gave us a course to begin with,” said Reed Rowe, who recently graduated from BYU with a bachelor of fine arts in photography. “With his knowledge of the people, the culture, and the history, he answered many of our questions and helped us make sense of so much that we didn’t understand. His translation skills enabled us to do the things we needed to do, see what we needed to see, and go where we needed to go.”

“As a native Chinese, I have always been fascinated to explore my motherland with so much history and such beautiful landscapes,” said John Wang. “I like showing this wonderful land and its friendly people to the world and helping Americans understand the true China more in depth. I really appreciate Neways’ support by allowing me the time to organize and guide this photo trip to China.”

During the first two weeks of October, student photography from this China expedition will be exhibited at BYU in Provo, Utah; for more information, contact BYU professor John Telford at john_telford@byu.edu or 801-310-0212. A subsequent exhibit is planned at Neways corporate headquarters in Springville, Utah.

SPRINGVILLE, UT (July 17, 2009) – As part of the company’s Healthy Homes initiative, Neways recently provided support to an ambitious tree-planting effort in Diamond Fork Canyon, Utah.

More than 70 volunteers planted several hundred trees in the Diamond Fork Youth Forest at the Diamond Fork Group Campground. According to a Forest Service representative, “The campground is new and needed landscaping to stabilize soil, add habitat and vegetation, block the canyon road from campers, and make the campground look nice.”

Neways employee Donna Durand adopted the Youth Forest about four years ago, with Neways as a corporate sponsor. Since then, Neways has donated bottled water to volunteers working on the forest and has also provided volunteers.

“We are teaching children,” Donna said. “Twenty years from now, they will be able to come back and say, ‘I helped my dad plant this tree.’ Wherever they go, this will stay in their memories. They helped reforest the earth.”

The Neways Healthy Homes initiative includes four main goals:

Healthy bodies with safety-conscious Neways products
Healthy finances through the Neways business opportunity
Healthy communities through humanitarian efforts
Healthy planet through environmental responsibility

SPRINGVILLE, UTAH (June 2, 2009)-With 11 trademarks registered during 2008, Neways was recently ranked fifth out of 20 top Utah companies by the Utah Genius awards program, which honors “the movers and shakers of Utah’s ‘creative economy,’ ” according to a local newspaper report. “That is to say, the people whose patents and trademarks are greasing the skids of commerce, so to speak, and adding much-needed jobs to the economy.”

At the Utah Genius event, Neways director of regulatory affairs Monzur Ahmed accepted the award on the company’s behalf. Among other distinguished speakers, Utah governor Jon Huntsman gave a video message thanking members of the Utah business community for their contributions to innovation and entrepreneurship.

“As the leading safety-conscious company in the health, wellness, and beauty industry, Neways is very pleased to receive this award,” said Ahmed. “With our world-class branding, Neways is proud of our innovative research and development efforts, which provide safe and effective product alternatives for our distributors and consumers worldwide.”

The Utah Genius program was launched by the Bateman IP Law Group, whose founder Randall Bateman said he was inspired by the book The Rise of the Creative Class, by Richard Florida. “His premise is that dynamic economies are going to be based on creative people,” Bateman told a local newspaper.
